Refresh Retail Spaces this Summer

There is no such thing as a lazy summer day for a retail facility or property manager. Since July through October are often the less busy months for retail, it is the perfect time for a summer refresh.  When done right, these small projects can have a big impact.  The most popular improvements during the summer are flooring, painting and lighting.  Each project will enhance the appearance and appeal of a retail space.

Flooring is undoubtedly a major component of the overall appeal of a retail space.  Style, durability, and design are important factors in choosing a floor material. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), hardwood, polished concrete and epoxy are all options that are visually appealing and are easy to keep clean.

A fresh coat of paint is one of the easiest and fastest ways to refresh a retail facility. In addition to walls, ceilings and moldings should also be painted to give a polished look. Be sure to repair the joints in crown molding that have cracked over time. A retail store should be full of neutral colors to let the merchandise take center stage.  Neutral colors can be complimented with window graphics or poster track systems. These eye-catching displays are another quick and low-cost improvement.

Replacing high-wattage light bulbs with energy-efficient LED lighting products are cost-effective and environmentally friendly.  LED lights also last longer and are worth the investment.  Low bay lights are often used for ceilings under twenty feet, while high bays are best for ceilings between 20-45 feet. Available in frameless, one or two-sided framed, this lighting solution is a great choice for a summer refresh which will also add punch to the décor.
