Keeping Your Warehouse Cool this Summer

Summer is in full swing and the temperature is rising.  During the warmer weather, it’s important to keep your warehouse cool for the workers’ safety and keeping complaints at a minimum.

When the air conditioning breaks down on a sweltering July afternoon, unhappy workers panic and the cost is high to have it fixed quickly.  Fortunately, it’s not too late to the prevent the potential summer disasters.

HVAC Service

Air conditioning is a must in the sweltering heat and humidity of summer. Keeping track of HVAC repairs and performance will help you avoid an outage. Changing filters on a regular basis, conducting inspections for obstructions and making sure the roof can handle the HVAV system are all imperative tasks to keep the air conditioning in good working order.

Warehouse Preparation

Floor and ceiling fans help with cooling your warehouse during the hot months. A coat of white paint on the roof will deflect rays from the sun which prevents additional heat from coming through. You can also reduce the amount of hot air from entering the warehouse by checking all doors and windows for airflow and installing proper insulation and door strips.

Maintain Empty Space

If there are low traffic areas in the warehouse, be sure to those areas for leaks, mold, infestations, or any other problems on a regular basis. Without daily foot traffic, a small unnoticed issue can turn into a big headache if not caught quick. MAC can set up site visits/inspections weekly or monthly if needed. This is a service we currently perform for a number of out of town owners/ property managers.

Emergency Supplies

In Kansas City, summer also brings the possibility of severe weather. Heavy summer storms frequently cause power outages. A stash of flashlights and batteries can help workers remain safe while in the dark.
